The wireless usb adapter is TP-Link TL-WN727N 150Mbps, I'm running Windows XP. Is there anything that can fix this problem or should I just buy another one? What if it happens again? I tried it with a USB cable, still nothing.
#TP LINK TL WN727N SOFTWARE#
I uninstalled the adapter software and installed it again. I thought it had just died but my personal laptop recognizes it and there's nothing wrong with the desktop usb ports because everything I plug into ANY port works perfectly. Easily setup a highly secured wireless link at a push of QSS button.
#TP LINK TL WN727N UPDATE#
I went to turn it on to update windows (runs Windows XP) and the computer does not recognize the pen drive (doesn't show up on My Computer, the light doesn't even turn on). TP-LINK TL-WN727N Wireless USB Driver Download forWindows10, Windows8.1, Windows8, Windows7, WindowsVista, WindowsXP (32/64-bit) - Wireless N speed up to 150Mbps makes it ideal for video streaming, online gaming and internet calls. I installed it, it worked fine on that computer and I could use the internet without any glitches, up until the middle of January. In future, you should just be able to plug in the device, and if it doesn't connect to your access point automatically just left-click the network manager icon and pick the access point from the list.A few months ago (October if I'm not mistaken) I bought a wireless USB adapter to use on my desktop computer (our backup computer) since we got a router and that computer does not have a wireless card. Try browsing to a different website to check you have a working route out onto the Internet, and you should be all set. The D-LINK is my office USB stick so I need a solution in the earlist for making the TL-WN727N work on my machine. I am using an INTEL MOTHERBOARD with 1 GM RAM and 100 GB harddisk. If you can't see any access points, right-click the network manager icon and make sure the option Enable Wireless is both present and ticked.Ī message will appear briefly in the top-right hand corner of your screen when the connection is established. I also plugged the TL-WN727N alone without the D-link stick and unfortunately the result was the same. Left-click the Network Manager icon on the panel at the top of the screen (it will be near the left-side of the clock) and you should see a list of available network names to connect to.Ĭlick the one corresponding to your access point and you'll be prompted for any keys required to connect your network. When logged back in, insert your wireless stick. This will make sure the older version of the driver gets unloaded from memory, so the new version can be loaded in its place. When finished on the command line, type the following to close the terminal:Ĭlose all your windows and restart the computer. Note when entering passwords the characters you type are not echoed back to screen, even as asterisks - this is normal Linux command-line behaviour.

Sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-wireless-generic To install the updated driver, click Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal, and type the following commands at the $ prompt, pressing Enter after each one and supplying your password if prompted: to ensure you have a connection to the Internet. Wait a few seconds, and check you can browse to a website (e.g.

Unplug the wireless card from your machine, and connect your machine to your router with a wired network cable. That card needs an updated driver for its internal chipset, available from Ubuntu's repositories, for which you'll need to connect to your router via a wired network temporarily.
